Whisky Live (Glasgow)

Postby Lionsmane » 27 Aug 2011, 12:31

Has anyone been to one of these shows? The Glasgow one is coming next weekend, and there is a chance work might send me :D but I've no idea what to expect....

Apart from a lot of whisky! Thoughts anyone?

It's a few years since I went to one. It's basically a big room with lots of tables dotted about, each one run by a whisky company. Most of them have whisky available for sampling - three or four bottles (more in some cases). Some tables are well decorated and some are quite elaborate stands. There will also be an area with some kind of entertainment - e.g. people showing you how to mix cocktails of make barrels. And there will be Richard Paterson shouting a lot.

There will also be masterclasses where people can pay an extra fee and sit in a classroom type environment and be talked through a flight of four or more "special" whiskies from a particular exhibitor.

Apparently if you buy tickets for WL Glasgow from the Whisky Live website you can get a 10% discount by using the code: WSEDINB10

I hear this event is no longer continuing in Glasgow. More details to follow but I believe it has been moved to Edinburgh under their Whisky Luxe template.

I have just returned from the London Whisky Live Show on Saturday, it was as discribed by other post, I travelled from Somerset and it was in my opinion well worth the trip as there is nothing like it out west ! I meet several of the names in whisky and they were all very helpfull and giving of their time, I will be going next year and will make it for both days next time, you may allready know of it but I would also suggest the Glasgow Whisky Festival at the Arches in November, I had a great time there last year and will be visiting again.

Slainte
